Future Stars – Powered by Aliment!

It has always been very important at Aliment that we invest back into research, product development and community. Over the last 20 years, we have tried to employ local people, donate money to local charities, use local suppliers where possible and put something back into our community. All of the team at Aliment were born and brought up in the communities we now support.

Recently, we decided we would like to go a little further and actively support some younger athletes who are showing exceptional talent in their sports clubs.

The majority of young athletes who are representing their clubs, counties, and countries are not funded and resources are limited. However, they are the potential stars of the future, and we believe we should do what we can to support their journey.

We were recently made aware of three such athletes who belong to a Martial arts club in Neath and are already competing on a national and international level and winning in their field of Taekwondo.

I went along to meet them and their coach and was so impressed with the club that we decided to offer them our support in the shape of supplements. At the young ages of between 10 and 12 they are already training to a high level and looking for support from a nutritional supplement point of view. Aliment is very happy, and proud to be able to step in and help!

Mains Martial arts was founded by Lauren Main who is herself a highly accomplished athlete and coach for the Welsh team in taekwondo. This is what she says......

Since we’ve opened, we’ve been dedicated to changing the lives of people one person at a time, through martial arts, education and coaching. We strive to provide a safe, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere for all students and family members. We take pride in creating an environment for individuals to achieve, develop and succeed in their personal goals.

We strongly believe that martial arts can be for everyone, regardless of age, gender or experience levels. Throughout all of our programmes, students will not only learn the necessary skill sets to protect themselves, we stand behind our realistic and practical approach, confident it will enable every member to achieve greatness and live their best life.

I am currently a 4th degree black belt in ITF TaeKwon-Do and a recognised international instructor. I started my taekwondo journey when I was eight years old. I joined my local taekwondo club called taekwon-do-wales.com in Fleur De Lys, Blackwood, South Wales. My reason for starting Taekwon-do was because I was heavily bullied in school and I wanted to learn how to defend myself and build my self-confidence.

I fell in love with taekwondo instantly and started competing across the UK in many competitions. I became multiple times ITF British, Welsh, Scottish and English champion within my category and as a result I was selected to be a member of the ITF Welsh Taekwon-do Team, Representing Wales provided opportunities to travel and compete in some amazing countries such as Uzbekistan, Croatia, Estonia and many more. I then established myself on the international circuit and become a World and European medallist.

My dream as a child was to become an Olympian, and I took part in the 2012 Olympic fighting chance program. This allowed me win a bronze medal the BTCB British TKD international championships and compete next Olympians including MBE Jade Jones, Bianca Walkden and many more but unfortunately the dream ended as I had to stop training in 2011 due to sustaining a serious injury.

In 2016, I decided to return to taekwondo. I knew at that point that my Olympic dream was just a dream but maybe I could help another person achieve their dreams, so I become an instructor and opened Mains Martial Arts.

After returning to Taekwondo and watching my own students compete (and win) I knew my competition days were not over just yet. I am currently serving in the royal navy reserves and I was selected represent the Royal Navy in taekwondo and compete in the Armed Forces championships. I became Armed Forces champion and royal navy champion in 2017 and 2018 WT and ITF taekwondo, for my success I was awarded the armed forces in Wales award 2019.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE TEACHING AND passing on my knowledge to my students nearly as much as I love learning taekwondo".

Aliment is looking forward to supporting Mains Martial arts and our 'Stars of the future'!

Welcome to our amazing athletes.....Jake, Ocean, Betti-Mia and the Mains family!
